Mumbai Horror: Delivery Boy Kills 17-Year-Old Girlfriend, Dumps Body on Hill (X)
Mumbai: The Samta Nagar Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly murdering his 17-year-old girlfriend and dumping her body in a hilly area of Kandivali in north Mumbai, a police official said.
A 22-year-old man was arrested in Mumbai for allegedly murdering his girlfriend in a forested area near the Lovegarh locality on the outskirts of Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) at Kandivali East.
The accused, who is identified as 22-year-old Suraj Waghmare, and the 17-year-old girl were in a relationship but he objected to her interactions with other men, the police said.
The police said that the victim's body was discovered by local residents on Friday, who immediately alerted the authorities.
The most important clue in this sensational murder was a college question paper found near the body, which led the police directly to the identity of the deceased and then to her accused. The accused himself pretended to be searching for the missing student (girlfriend) and joined the search with her father, so that no one would suspect him.
On Friday morning, passersby discovered the student's body, drenched in blood, in the Damu Nagar Lavdongar hill area. She had suffered multiple stab wounds to her neck.
On Friday, police were informed about a girl, aged 16 to 18, being found dead in the forest.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police found a notebook containing her college question paper. Based on this clue, the police arrived at the victim's college in Kandivali. They learned that a student had been missing since Thursday. The police then went to the missing student's home in Kandivali and confirmed her identity by showing her photo to her family.
An official said that the investigation revealed that the student was in a relationship with her 22-year-old boyfriend, Suraj Waghmare, who works as a delivery boy. The family told the police that their daughter had gone to college on Thursday but did not return.
Based on technical evidence, call details, and mobile location, Samta Nagar police detained Suraj. He initially claimed innocence, but broke down during interrogation. Suraj admitted that he was suspicious of his girlfriend's interactions with friends and that she was constantly pressuring him to marry her, even though he did not want to marry her yet. This led him to plot the murder.
According to the police investigation, Suraj invited the girl to meet him at Love Dongar Hill in Damu Nagar on Thursday. They initially ate biryani and spent several hours together. Around 3 pm, the accused stabbed his girlfriend multiple times in the neck with a sharp knife, killing her. He then switched off her mobile phone, took her bag, and returned to his home in Lahu Ji Chawl in Damu Nagar. In the evening, he visited her family and pretended to be innocent.
DCP Gajanan Rajmane stated that the Samta Nagar police arrested the accused and presented him in court, where he was remanded to police custody. In this case, a simple questionnaire became a clue for the police, unraveling the entire murder mystery within a few hours.
